Lets go Dukes!

It used to that James Madison was the highlight of the basketball season at East Carolina. I had one name I associated with the school, Lefty Drisiell who once coached there. Now I have a different face, one wearing a band uniform.

When my niece went to Harrisonburg my image of the school changed. My phrase relating to the school went from "Sit down Lefty" to "Lets Go Dukes." After one of the biggest upsets of the year, a monster win over Virginia Tech, I have good reason to welcome them to the online version of The Corner.
In starting this blog I never dreamed of bringing up JMU here. It is obviously not a high profile school when it comes to athletics. It never occurred to me I might have a family member who was a member of the Marching Dukes (pictured above).

Any division two team that beats a powerhouse like Virginia Tech deserves any recognition they get, after all this is only the second time that a FCS team has won against a ranked FBS team. Any band with a piccolo player with the last name Woerner makes staying in the seats at half time worthwhile.

Lets go Dukes for the rest of the season and hopefully they can take home the FCS crown!

JMU is a Divsion 1 school...as are all FCS schools. As are all FCS schools. Divsion 2 is a different group. Only in football is Division 1 divided, all other sports participate in the same post season (i.e. March Madness).
