Its a good time to be a sports fan

Can't think of a better time to be a sports fan than just about now. This weekend is the start of the NFL season, the college football season is entering week two and the baseball races are heating up. This weekend is a good time to put the honey do list in the closet.

With the start of the NFL is the beginning of the most successful sports organization there is. No matter where you go in this country you can find NFL fans. That is not nearly as true in MLB, the NBA or the NHL. There are going to be a lot of people on couches Sunday afternoon which haven't been there since the Saints finished off a Super Bowl win last year.

College football isn't far behind in popularity.  Campus' around the country, that aren't located in Chapel Hill North Carolina, are alive with the hope of a fresh season. Even in Blue Heaven they are hoping to close their eyes and wake up with the multiple investigations now in progress gone. It is to early to make predictions but looks like Alabama is going to be strong. Boise State made a statement against Virginia Tech in their first game. It will be a fun ride through the fall.

And in MLB, what is going on with the Braves? It is pretty simple they are cooling off with the weather. They fell out of first this week and are now in the middle of a wild card showdown. Bobby Cox doesn't want to go out with a disappointing collapse so it is time to get to work in Hotlanta. The team needs a leader and with Chipper Jones gone Brian McCann is the natural choice.  I will predict that the Braves will fall to the Phillies in the National League east race but will make a run at the World Series from the wild card slot. They will battle Texas in the World Series and win it all in six games in October.

Enjoy the next several months sports fans. It is bound to be a good ride, no matter which channel you choose on the remote.
