Vick's performance outshines his past

There comes a time to forgive and forget and that applies even to horrific crimes like staging dogfights. Apparently Philadelphia Eagles Coach Andy Reid hasn’t grasped the concept and is still punishing Michael Vick even though he has earned a starting spot. In doing so he is also punishing his team

There is no where on the web where Michael Vick was crucified than write here in this Corner. Killing dogs is despicable, cruel and inhumane behavior and I let the world know that as much as I could when the controversy was occurring. I campaigned for years not to allow Vick back in the league but that is now water under the bridge. He is back and deserves the chance to prove he should be there. Based on his performance last week he is ready to do that.

Coach Reid is committed to Kevin Kolb even after a stellar performance from Vick this week. Kolb lost his position due to injury and that is  unfortunate for him but Vick showed he is the man who can get the job done. If nothing else he should be commended for his perservence.

He should also be commended for the way he has handled the situation, saying Monday there is no quarterback controversy. It is hard to believe from a man with an ego the size of Texas but he says he has accepted his role as a back up. He says he is ready to follow Kolb.

As far as we know Vick has put his past right there, in the past but for whatever reason Coach Reid refuse to acknowledge his accomplishment. He refuses to forget the prison time and animals which were tortured at Vick’s hands. He refuses to give him the chance he has earned. Coach Reid should be commended for his loyalty to Kolb but he is letting it get in the way that is best for his team.

His team will suffer the consequences are a betting man would say number seven will be back under center sooner than later. It won’t be soon enough for Eagles fans.

I don't know if I would agree that being a good athlete is enough to vindicate someone from animal cruelty. Vick is an awesome football player who can prove his skills against people his own size. I just find it hard to justify anyone beating an animal.
