Steven Strasburg Pick Easy
Update: Steven Strasburg was not selected for the national league all-star team.
Of course. That is the answer to the question being discussed right now on the Major League Game of the Week. Stephen Strasburg should make the All Star game. It is not a hard decision.
The debate has arisen by some players who are saying Strasburg doesn't have the experience to make the All Star team. If it was based on statistics, they would be right. It is not. The All Star game is about bringing fans to the television screens, sports bars and the ball park itself.
In a recent series in Atlanta, Strasburg pitched one night and the Braves had 42,000people in Turner Field. The next night he didn't and there were 19,000 there. There is your reason. This is not a debate about whether the All Star game is about the best players. When I used to punch out the little squares and mail my ballot in 30 years ago, it wasn't. In the modern era of internet voting, facebook, twitter and whatever else it is still about what the fans want. In this case they want Steven Strassburg and they should get him.
