SEC Can Shove It

Yesterday South Carolina beat Kentucky 68-62. Kentucky was the only remaining team in the country that did not have a loss until they faced the Game Cocks. USC was 11 – 8 going into the game. So when they began the game against the Wildcats not a sole would have said they had a snow balls chance in hell to beat Kentucky, but they did.

After the game fans decided to storm the court to show support for a team that had lost its previous three games and then upset the number one team in the country. So how does the SEC respond to such an incident? They slap a $25,000 fine on USC. That’s right they fine the school for upsetting the number one team in the country. They say the fine is for the fans storming the court, but I believe it’s a fine to discourage second rate teams from beating up on the top team in the country. The SEC is all about its pride so having the number one squad in Kentucky meant a lot to them. Losing the number one squad apparently meant a lot more so they USC for the upset to discourage such upset’s. I see this as ridiculous.

The reason I say it is a fine for the upset and not for storming the court is because plenty of schools storm the court without fines. For example NC State stormed the court last week when they upset then number seven Duke. Was there any fine involved? Of course not, because the ACC is a respectable conference. The ACC wants a good game, every game, not just the top teams beating the bottom ones every week.

All in all I have never like the SEC and this gives me a new reason to despise them. This is a ridiculous fine and USC should rush the court on every win to protest.
