Admittedly it has been a long time since I have updated this spot but what I call the best sporting event in the world is now in progress. That makes me want to share my enthusiasm with the world.
Never has there been an event that plays to the underdog like the NCAA tournament. This year teams like Morehead State, Hampton and Long Island take their shot at glory. They bid for the opportunity to slip on Cinderella's slipper.
Never has there been an event that gets more people involved as they fill out their brackets. Mine already looks like it has been through a minefield but I am sticking with the luck of the Irish in this season of St. Patrick. Look for Duke, Notre Dame, Ohio State and North Carolina to make strong showings throughout but it will be Notre Dame celebrating when it is over.
Like many I count the hours until Friday's work is done and tourney time starts. My team didn't even make the Not Invited Tournament, but I will find an underdog to get behind. That is part of the fun of a great weekend of sports.
