As the World cup draws to a close tomorrow it opens the door for all the anticipation to next years...no wait the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Since four more years is a little to long to begin anticipation for me lets take a look back at great moment in the cup, or at least to me.
1. The USA goal vs. Algeria to advance to the knock out round was maybe the most exciting experience in sports I have had thus far. The fact that in extra time they got the lone goal of the game that much more intense.
2. The Dutch's goal by Robben vs. Uruguay was extremely impressive. The way he had to come back for the ball but yet still managed to get his head on it and put it in the net left me in awe.
3. The Diego Forlan Goal vs. Ghana is crazy, the goal keeper never had a chance to stop it. If you watch it closely the ball does an S shaped curve. I doubt he has that much control over the ball but it was a great goal. On top of that it was to tie Ghana in the knock out round, so no pressure at all in the free kick, sike.
4. The Goal by Honda vs. Denmark is another impressive free kick from out side of the box that has perfect placement. Later in this game Honda faked a free kick and a team mate scored a free kick as well. One of my favorite things about watching Honda was the he was unselfish. There were many times where he could have taken the shot but passed it to teammates who didn't have a goal yet or ones that were in a better position to score.
5. There were so many others that it's really pointless to put this in a list past this point so check out this video with most of the Goals from this world cup.
Another thing I loved about this world cup was seeing older players get one last goal and the excitement on their faces knowing that this would be the last goal of their world cup career.
Well I personally am excited for the next cup and most likely will watch MLS if they put it on TV, maybe I have to get a new sports package for cable, but this event has gotten me as well as many excited about soccer.
With all that said GO DUTCH tomorrow, I hope the octopus is wrong with its Spain prediction as I am for the Dutch and predict a 2-1 Dutch win.
