It is interesting to watch the NFL saga going on in Cincinnati of all places. It is there that the league’s number one and two prima donas Chad Ochocinco and Terrell “TO” Owens say they will be able to play together and go to the Super Bowl. In my opinion the Bengals will be the circus of the NFL this year.
Ochocinco and TO are both receivers. Both live for touchdowns and the attention getting dances they do like most of us live for water. They want the spotlight and attention to be on them, no one else on the team. Cincinatti has gladly let Ochocinco take on that role so that situation has been manageable. It will be interesting to see how each one will now share the spot light with the other.
TO brings with him a long past of turmoil. Basically he is happy if everyone is looking at him. Otherwise he causes trouble until they are.
Quarterback Carson Palmer was asked if he will be able to throw enough to either of the stars. He knows what the answer is, of course not. His wise public answer was that is not his job, his job is to win games. Who wants to bet on which one of the receivers will be complaining about Palmer first? Probably the one who gets the second pass of the year, because he didn’t get the first one. I would just about bet the family farm on it. The one to cry first will be the one who said last week that “I know how much talent I have.”
The same one that was a headache in Philadelphia and Dallas. Palmer just inherited Tony Romo and Donovan McNabb’s former nightmare.
Kudos to him for his good attitude about dealing with it. My sympathies for what lies ahead.
